What is the difference between a houseboat and a yacht?
Firstly, a houseboat has two to three times the living space of a similarly long motor yacht. After all, it's almost twice as wide as a similarly long motor yacht. Therefore, a houseboat has fully-fledged rooms with a height of at least 2.5 meters, rather than tiny cabins with low ceilings; bathrooms, rather than latrines, etc. Secondly, houseboats are several times cheaper than similarly long yachts. The secret is that the floating part of a houseboat is assembled according to shipbuilding standards, while the above-water part is built according to housing construction standards, which is cheaper.

The project began as a collaboration between Russian and Danish entrepreneurs, but eventually became completely Russian. For us, this is not just a business, but a life's work that we invest in 24/7.

A houseboat can be moored in any marina by simply signing a contract with them. For example, there are about 30 marinas in Moscow and the surrounding region. Furthermore, our company plans to soon launch its own floating villages for houseboats in Moscow and the Moscow region.
On average, annual maintenance costs range from 30,000 to 80,000 rubles per month. This includes: marina berth, electricity (unmetered, which is a nice touch), water connection, and security. Maintenance of utility systems costs around 15,000 to 20,000 rubles per year. It's a perfect analogy with a country house: you can maintain it yourself, or you can hire a company. For example, ours.
No permits or fees are required for navigation on inland waterways and locks. To operate a houseboat, you need a small vessel operator's license issued by the State Inspectorate for Small Vessels (GIMS), which is easily obtained on your own, or you can hire a captain for one-off trips.
A houseboat up to 20 meters in length is considered a small vessel and is considered a transport vehicle. Tax is paid as for a car, depending on engine power. For example, for a 150-horsepower houseboat, the tax is only 15,000 rubles per year. It is registered with the State Inspectorate for Small Vessels (GIMS). Ownership is confirmed by a boat ticket. Fractional ownership, financing, or leasing are available.
Houseboats are typically built for calm waters like rivers and lakes. However, a seagoing houseboat can also be custom-built. It will cost at least a quarter more.
